I’ve done a lot of research on the Maldives because when it comes to choosing an island, it’s like a minefield, so many beautiful hotels but where to actually stay?

This was our 2nd time to visit the Maldives (we travelled as a couple pre-child) and we've been dying to get back there ever since. We were looking at Kuramathi island for a family holiday, so when our travel plans suddenly changed at the end of 2021, we thought why not go and check it out now.

Set in Rasdhoo Atoll, Kuramathi is an island resort offering a naturally Maldivian holiday experience with unique twists to suit everyone. Whether you are a couple on a romantic getaway or a family seeking to enjoy quality time together, Kuramathi has something for you. You can indulge in sensual spa therapies, spend an afternoon exploring the vibrant house reef, go on culinary adventures, and many other exciting activities.

Kuramathi is a big island with 11 different rooms type options, 9 al a carte restaurants (unfortunately we didn’t get to experience all of them but the food we had was amazing). They have a kids club, Diving, Water sports and so much more. There is literally something for everyone!

We travelled as a couple on this occasion and stayed in a deluxe water villa, we were then upgraded a deluxe water villa with a pool (perks of being a travel agent). As I mentioned earlier there are 11 different room types to choose from, so you can opt for a beach villa if you prefer.

Transfer time - There are 2 different ways to travel from the main airport of Male

speedboat takes 90mins

sea plane takes 20mins

We took the speedboat option as the timings matched up with our flight time.

*Make sure to check your flight times if you are taking the sea plane as you usually need to arrive in the Maldives before 3pm.

If I could fault one thing, it would be the buggy service around the island, there are lots of buggy stops but you can be waiting up to 15mins sometimes, walking is possible but it’s a fair old walk from one end of the island to the other.

We did love every minute though and will definitely be returning to this Island with our son.
