For those who haven’t been here before, the Peloponnese is one of Greece’s most unspoiled regions, renowned for its archaeological treasures such as ancient Olympia and its natural beauty. This peaceful area offers forests, stretched beaches, crystal clear waters.

Getting there -

We flew from Abu Dhabi to Athens with Wizz air and spent one night in Athens. We then hired a car and drove to the Achaia region which took about 3hrs.  The drive is quite pleasant with glimpses of the sea sparkling one one side and green forests on the other. We passed through small villages and saw roadside stalls selling pumpkins and watermelons

From the UK or Europe you can fly into the smaller airports of Patra or Kalamata.

Where we stayed

Having stayed in another Grecotel property last year in another part of Greece, we decided to try them again, this time we stayed at Grecotel Casa Marron resort which is an inclusive lifestyle resort. It’s located in the North Peloponnese on the sandy beach of Lakopetra.
The layout gives vast open areas of greenery at Casa Marron so it never felt busy, despite being full, during our visit. With its large fields and stroller-friendly walkways, Casa Marron is great for families and young kids. It is a very tranquil location, the resort made us feel relaxed throughout our stay.

The main building hosts a Wellness Center with a fitness club, a yoga studio, and a spa. The spa offers massages and beauty treatments, a sauna, and a pool. There is also an extensive fitness programme hosting classes 6days a week, I joined quite a few of the Pilates classes on the lawn.

The Grecoland Kids Club
If you’ve read some of my other blogs you’ll know that I love a resort with a kids club because it gives mummy and daddy some much needed time for themselves aswell as keeping the kids entertained. Including evening entertainment of mini disco, roller blading and cinema nights.

The all-inclusive program includes all meals – breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as snacks, ice creams, crepes, drinks, soft drinks, wine and beers, hot and cold beverages. My only issue with the all inclusive program is that it is advertised on the hotels website as multiple outlets and a la carte restaurants, which isn’t the case! There is only one a la carte restaurant and you can only use it once per week! I took this up with the hotel management as having multiple restaurant choices was one of the main reasons we chose this resort, they were very kind to allow us to use the a la carte as much as we wanted. Just a heads up to look into these details before booking all inclusive resort, as there always seems to be a catch, which I mentioned before in another blog (will link it below).
The food was good on the whole but it does get a bit repetitive.

Things to do in the area -

Have you ever been wine tasting in Greece? The Peloponnese is a large wine production area and we tried out an amazing vineyard called Achaia Clauss Winery, it’s located about 20mins from Patras. It was absolutley stunning and has some great view too.

I would definitely recommend a visit here.

Grecotel Olympic Rivera water park is about a 50 min drive from Casa Marron and is free for Casa Marron privilege guests to use. This was a great water park and a fun day out

Take a day trip to Patras to check out some of the archeological sites.
